Shigeru Suzuki is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his iconic album BAND WAGON with a special concert in Shanghai. Joined by his longtime collaborators Tetsu Hasebe, Shigeru Okazawa, and rising star Ginga Tosaki, Suzuki will revisit his legendary career and perform fan favorites, bringing his timeless guitar skills and musical passion to the stage. In 2025, both the legendary guitarist Shigeru Suzuki celebrates the 50th anniversary of his solo debut and marks the 50th anniversary of the release of his groundbreaking album BAND WAGON.
At this special moment, Suzuki will be joined by old friends Tetsu Hasebe (drums) and Shigeru Okazawa (bass), along with the rising star Ginga Tosaki (keyboard), to showcase the glorious history of Japanese rock and its present-day vibrancy. Textur3 has also collaborated with Suzuki to present a unique concert experience, brushing off the passage of time with a special two-part performance:
Part I: 50th Anniversary of BAND WAGON
In 1974, armed with only 600,000 yen, Suzuki flew alone to Los Angeles to record. Upon arrival, he realized that the musicians he had originally booked were not up to his standards. After overcoming numerous challenges, including reassembling the band and exhausting his funds, BAND WAGON was finally completed. This solo album, meticulously crafted by Suzuki himself, clearly demonstrates his distinctive personality as a guitarist.
With the blend of West Coast rhythms and New Orleans sounds, alongside Suzuki’s impeccable performance, BAND WAGON is not only Suzuki's signature work but also an irreplaceable masterpiece in the history of Japanese rock, a golden track that still shines brightly today.
Part II: Colorful Years, Love and Passion
At this Shanghai concert, Suzuki will perform his favorite tracks from BAND WAGON, once again reliving the youthful energy of those compositions. From 14 to 73 years old, from Happy End to Tin Pan Alley, from the open tropical soundscapes to the tender narrative of blues guitar: with his vast discography, Suzuki’s overflowing talent will be on full display, live on stage.
